The elemental sulfur can be considered as fertilizer, but if the conditions of soil, source and culture in which the element is applied allow the conversion to sulphate (SO42-), for this to happen it must be oxidized making it available to the plants. The objective this work was to value the oxidation of elemental sulfur in the soil coating different fertilizers. The experiment was installed between november 2016 and march 2017, being conducted in the UEG experimental area in Ipameri-GO. The experimental design was completely randomized (DIC), arranged in a 4x5 factorial scheme, with four replications. The first factor was composed of the elemental sulfur coated sources: 1 urea, 2 triple superphosphate (TSP), and 3 – phosphate monoammonium (MAP), and 4 – elemental sulfur tablets. The second factor was the doses of S (0, 32, 64, 96 and 128 mg dm of soil). After addition of S-elemental, soil samples were incubated for periods of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days, with 60% your maximum of water retention capacity. After drying, the S-SO4 content was determined. It was observed that the addition of S-elemental to the different sources shortly after application reduced the availability of S-SO4 in the soil, and increasing doses up to 128 mg dm -3 of S was not sufficient to compensate for this reduction . At 45 days of incubation, the availability of S-SO4 in the soil in creased up to the dose of 77, 25 mg dm of S with urea, and 95,4 mg dm of S at 45 days with MAP.
