Propriedade repelente de Lavandula dentata Linnaeus em Nauphoeta cinerea (Olivier, 1789)

Due to the biodiversity of plants and the limitations of defense against herbivores, vegetables produce a great diversity of compounds, including essential and secondary ones. As a result of this diversity, even though they are in a much lower number of species (+ 18% of the planet's species richness), Tracheophyta are responsible for more than half of the active ingredients; from organisms, present in drugs of medicines. Among the plants that have these effects, there is lavender, which produces bioactive molecules, having antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The objective of this work was to evaluate the repellent action of Lavandula dentata L. (lavender), on Nauphoeta cinerea (Olivier, 1789) (Blattaria: Blaberidae). Three individuals were used, two marked with blue and red ink. They were kept in a plastic box, whose cover was removed, and a white screen was placed. The bottom of the box was divided into four numbered quadrants, with food and water available. The animals were followed for two hours, in the period of the most active cirdadian cycle. The vegetable was processed, with aqueous, alcoholic, oily and dry vegetable extracts being produced. These were deposited in one of the quadrants, in the corner diametrically opposite the center. The data showed a significant efficiency with the use of aqueous extract, alcoholic extract, essential oil and dry vegetable. However, the vegetable in natura had no significant result. In conclusion, it can be said that the use of plant extracts from Lavandula dentata can be an alternative in the control of cockroach populations, and perhaps other insects. From an economic and environmental point of view, it is easy to prepare and not harmful to the environment, man and domestic animals.
