World War II is considered to be the largest war in human history, leading it to be a widely exploited product in the entertainment industry. The Iwo Jima War, which is explored in the Clint Eastwood movie, was the first battle fought on Japanese land during World War II. The United States intended to conquer it, as the island made it possible to establish an American base area that would be close to the other islands of Japan. With many dead and wounded on both sides, the battle of Iwo Jima is considered one of the bloodiest in the world. World War II, having as its central figure General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, who due to his knowledge of the enemy set up an appropriate strategy, making the battle last 35 days. The American director decides to record the film from both American and Japanese perspectives, both focusing on their psychological conflicts. In the Japanese adaptation we see the dilemma of giving your life for the good of the nation, but with the pain of not seeing the family anymore.
