Playful activities have been used as an auxiliary learning resource as they stimulate students' motivation in the act of learning. When the student experiences different activities than usual in the form of play or play, there is stimulation of brain areas related to the development of different skills such as physical, emotional and cognitive. The aim of this paper is to report the experiences obtained in workshops developed in the state and municipal schools of Pelotas, by the extension project Discovering Science at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) School, as well as the reception and use of students when exposed to them. Students from public schools in the city of Pelotas of the 6th, 7th and 9th grades participated in the action. The workshops consisted of activities in the form of games, attention videos and mathematical puzzles. Overall the students were motivated and enjoyed the proposed activities. However, it was possible to observe differences regarding the students' area of interest. The 7th grade class preferred video activity where the goal was to stimulate attention to a specific task. The proposed task was to unravel a crime. In contrast to 9th graders who preferred hands-on activities such as team games and outdoor games. The present work demonstrated that taking into account the peculiarities of each class it is possible to develop different activities in the school daily life. Results indicated that students enjoyed the game activities. In addition, it was possible to observe through the analysis of the questionnaires that most students learned about the topics covered in the workshops. This way we can conclude which activities in the form of games can be used as an auxiliary tool for teachers in the teaching process, as they favor the appropriation of knowledge by students.
