Situé dans la plaine du Vistre, au sud-est de Nîmes (Gard), le site du Mas de Vignoles IV a été fouillé de manière préventive sur une superficie de 6,5 ha. Les occupations les plus denses concernent le Néolithique et plus particulièrement le Néolithique final. Quelques structures datées du Bronze final II et IIIb sont néanmoins présentes dans la partie nord-est du site. La plus singulière d’entre-elles est un ensemble funéraire d’un type inédit dans la région. Il comprend deux inhumations successives d’individus adultes, auxquelles est associé un abondant mobilier céramique. Les corps ont été installés au sein d’une large fosse approximativement circulaire présentant plusieurs aménagements internes. Cette structure étant en cours d’étude, au même titre que l’ensemble du site, les données présentées ici sont lacunaires. Le caractère original de cette découverte nous paraît cependant en justifier sa rapide présentation devant la communauté scientifique.Located in the Vistre plain, to the south-east of Nîmes (Gard), the site of Mas de Vignoles IV was the subject of a rescue excavation covering an area of 6.5 hectares. The densest occupation levels concern the Neolithic and in particular the Late Neolithic. A few structures dating to the Late Bronze 2 and 3b are however present in the north-eastern sector of the site. The most singular of these is a funerary complex of a type previously unknown in the region. It holds two successive individual burials of adults associated with an important quantity of pottery. The bodies were laid within a large approximately circular pit presenting several internal dispositions. This structure is still being studied, as is the whole of the site, so only partial data are presented here. The remarkable nature of this discovery seemed however to justify its rapid presentation to the scientific community.Fabre Véronique, Hasler Anne, Thuillier Brigitte.
