The principle of shepherding means a fundamental statement that can be considered as a general truth that is used by both pastors and groups in pastors in working to achieve their goals. In this connection, it is important to study the principles of shepherding according to 1 Timothy 4: 1-16. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, and implement the principles of shepherding according to 1 Timothy 4: 1-16 in the pastoral environment of the GPdI session in the West Waropen Region, Papua. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive analysis method with a hermeneutical approach to the text of 1 Timothy 4: 1-16. In conclusion, some principles in shepherding based on 1 Timothy 4: 1-16 are: knowing the purpose of shepherding, being called to serve, preparing for service, entering service, and serving as God's Servant. Abstrak Prinsip penggembalaan artinya pernyataan fundamental yang dapat di-anggap sebagai kebenaran umum yang digunakan oleh gembala sidang baik perorangan maupun kelompok dalam bekerja untuk mencapai tujuannya. Berkaitan dengan hal itu penting untuk mempelajari prinsip-prinsip penggembalaan menurut 1 Timotius 4:1-16. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan, menganalisis dan mengimplementasikan prinsip-prinsip penggembalaan menurut 1 Timotius 4:1-16 dalam ling-kungan gembala sidang GPdI di Wilayah Waropen Barat, Papua. Peneli-tian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif dengan pendekatan hermeneutis pada teks 1 Timotius 4:1-16. Kesim-pulannya, ada beberapa prinsip dalam penggembalaan berdasarkan 1 Timotius 4:1-16 yang dapat diterapkan, yakni: mengetahui tujuan peng-gembalaan, terpanggil melayani, persiapan pelayanan,  memasuki pelaya-nan dan melayani sebagai Hamba Tuhan.
