Subsurface Paleo-Stream Reach Reconstruction and Classification Using Seismic Data Interpretation Benjamin Ward Dotson Incorporating the techniques and applications used in the 3D seismic geophysical interpretations with the Rosgen (1996) stream classification, this study was able to identify paleostream reaches in the Frio Formation within the Stratton 3D seismic data set. Hydraulic geometry variables from Rosgen’s classification scheme were used to classify paleo-stream reaches shown in the seismic data. Estimated paleo-discharges were reconstructed to compare the potential magnitude of flow in the paleo-stream reaches to that in modern rivers in Texas and Mississippi. However, classification and discharge results were accompanied with a high margin of error and many uncertainties regarding the stream channel’s geometry and features.
