Genetic alterations affect carcinogenesis, and recent studies demonstrated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have critical roles during this process. Hox transcript antisense intergenic RNA (HOTAIR) is a lncRNA molecule that affects proliferation, survival, migration, genomic stability, and drug resistance of cancer cells.
