Results: Seventy percent of patients had ≥ 6 biopsy samples taken. Of the samples received by pathology, 67% contained tumour tissue. The median formalin fixation time was 1 day (range 0 – 4 days) and 11 samples (19%) spent ≥ 2 days in formalin. The median time from biopsy date to paraffin embedding was 2 days (range 0–7 days). The median formalin fixation time for biopsies taken on Friday was 3 days compared to 1 day for biopsies taken from Monday to Thursday.
