Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep breathing disorder characterized by prolonged partial upper airway obstruction or intermittent complete obstruction that disrupts normal ventilation. Sleep apnea is a relatively common disorder in children with a prevalence of 1% to 5%. It is the most common pediatric sleep disorder, which is associated with serious neurocognitive, behavioral, growth, and cardiovascular abnormalities in children.
