We perform the panel data analysis of subjects of the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Crimea. Also we apply the methodology of constructing the target function of economic dynamics of the regions, as well as the methodology of integral indicators of life quality. First, a homogeneous group of regions is formed, then the parameters of the target function are estimated by the sample of regional variables, then the behavior of this function is analyzed for a subgroup of regions including the Crimea Republic. The features of the republic economy and its possible prospects are described. The dynamics of its major indicators since 2012 in comparison with the average for the Russian region is considered. Indicators of living conditions of the population from 2014 to 2016 are built and a number of problem areas of this Republic are identified. Calculations are made according to the official data for the 2009-2017 years.
