A temporal study of the gait was carried out observing sixty patients of both sexes, 21 to 76 years old. Thirty individuals had hallux valgus and thirty individuals constituted a control group. Contact transductors were fixed on the plantar region at calcanean level and on the plantar region at the level of the metatarsian heads of the fifth, permitting quantification of time duration of foot-ground contact from the moment of the calcaneous shock until the loss of ground contact of the five metatarsian heads. At the evaluation of these temporal components of the gait the feet who had hallux valgus revealed to have significant inferior values on the first metatarsian head in relation to those of the second and third metatarsian heads, which did not occur in the control group. The time of contact of the forefoot over the 2-5 metatarsian heads were not different in either groups although feet with hallux valgus had a greater time span from calcanean shock to the end support.
