調査地域は阿武 隈山地南部に位置 し,大 北川の源流部 にあたる。山頂には侵食平坦面が残存 し,高 度は侵食残 丘 であ る花園山の880mを 最高に400~600mの 丘陵性 の 山地 であ る。 山型は山頂が緩やかで,山 麓に行 くに従 っ て急傾斜 とな り,ド ーム状を呈 している。全体に小起伏 地形 のため,斜 面の長 さが短か く,谷 は開析が進み,細 か く支谷が入っている。そのため,崩 壊 の規 模 は 小 さ く,崩 壊深度の浅い ものが多発 してい る。 地質は中生代に貫 入した花崗 閃緑岩,閃 雲花崗 岩,深 成岩 の貫入に よって変成 を受 けた緑色片岩からなってい る(図-1)。 緑色片岩は侵食 されに くく,崩 壊はいずれ も 花崗 岩地域で起 こっている。 この地域の花崗岩は,崩 壊 に対 して抵抗力の弱い粗粒花崗 岩が広 く分布している。 その表層部は風化 が進みマサ化され,特 に山頂 付近は マ サ化 された風化土層 が厚 く堆積し,崩 壊の発生 しやすい 条件 を提供 している。 図-1 調査地域 と地質図
