This report is based upon a study of stomach contents obtained from a total of 1407 birds collected in South Korea during the past ten years. 244 forms are represented. The study evolved as a by-product of a collection primarily designed to up-date and add to knowledge already published on the distributional status of the avifauna of the country and to help clarify certain taxonomic relationships . No attempt was made to concentrate on the dietary habits of any one species or group of species or to relate such habits with either economic or ecological factors. The majority of birds were taken by the author . Some were purchased in markets in Seoul. Some were donated by hunters and friends. Most were obtained in Kyonggi-do within a 50-mile radius of Seoul although others were collected in Chungchong Pukto ; Chungchong Namdo ; near Taegu in Kyongsang Pukto ; along the east coast of the Korean peninsula near Kangnung in Kangwon-do ; in Kyongsang Namdo in the southeastern part of the country; and on Che ju-do , approximately 50 miles off the southwestern tip of the peninsula. Most were collected between sea level and approximately 2000 feet elevation. Nearly all birds taken were preserved by the author as either skins or skeletons and were deposited in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, University of California at Berkeley, California. Stomach contents were dried and placed in empty match boxes and/or larger paper containers and stored until time of examination, approximately 1-8 years later. Analyses were made by Dr. Toyosu Wada of the Government Forest Experimental Station, Kochi, Shikoku, Japan. A list of birds taken and stomach contents is given below. Since stomach examinations were based entirely on dried material, no attempt was made to conduct quantitative analyses. The sequence and nomenclature of birds listed are based on Wetmore's A Classification for the Birds of the World, Peters' Check-List of Birds of the World, and Vaurie's The Birds of the Palearctic Fauna. Forms pending and/or lacking sub. specific determination have been lumped under the species designation only, e.g., Alauda arvensis, Dendrocopos major, Emberiza cioides, etc. Appreciation is expressed to Ben F.
