This article presents a detailed analysis of a group of Chilean and Mexican history textbooks published between 1920 and 1950, with a special emphasis on the different ways that racism is manifested in them. We reviewed their distinct representations of Greek and pre-Columbine antiquity and found that they are prefigured by their context and hence reflect the heterogeneity of – in this case – racist views. The goal of this approach is to contribute to the distinction of different types of racism that have been projected into still prevailing attitudes in Chile and Mexico.
