Changes in soil conditions will result in population and diversity in the soil. The eruption of Mount Sinabung caused the surface of the soil covered with volcanic ash with various thicknesses. The purpose of this research is to know the macrofauna community of soil in Andisol land covered with volcanic ash of Mount Sinabung in Karo Regency, conducted in May 2017. The plot is placed in four locations, location I (not covered by ash), location II (covered with thin ash) III (covered with medium ash), location IV (covered with thick ash) with transect method. Conducted by Pitfall Trap, Squares and Hand Sorting. From the results of the study found 3 phyla. 7 classes, 12 orders, 18 families and 19 species of macrofauna land. The total density value decreases as the thickness of volcanic ash covers the location. Location I is 317,794 Ind / m2; location II ie 287.612 Ind/m2; Location III is 192,151 Ind/m2; Location IV is 182,322 Ind/m2. Soil macrofauna characteristics is Gryllotalpa sp. at location III; Calosoma sp. at locations I and II; Odontoponera sp. and Trochosa canapii in all locations. The index value of diversity at location I (2,320); II (2,398); III (1,518); and IV (1,409) are of medium diversity. Equitability index value at location I (0.803); II (0.846); III (0.691); and IV (0.724) is high equitability. The macrofauna similarity index value of site I and II (91.42%) are very similar. In locations III and IV (87.5%) are also very similar. The correlation test showed a significant negative correlation relationship between soil temperature and annelida and mollusca phyla. C-organic shows a real positive correlation relationship with mollusca phyla.
