The presented article is an outcome of the same named thesis of Bc. Vendula Kašparová. In the first section the authors of the article deal with the connection between ethics and social work, or more precisely, they look for the moments when the social worker could use knowledge of ethics in their direct work with clients, focusing on the Roma target group. When working directly with this target group, social worker may encounter a number of specific dilemma situations. The aim of this article is based on research of these dilemma situations in order to identify and summarize the dilemmas faced by social workers in their work with Roma clients. The research was carried out by social workers who work with Roma target group (clients of these social workers consider themselves Roma). So, they were the employees of organizations working with this target group. The organizations were chosen in the South Bohemian Region based on availability – the organizations most available to the questioner were addressed. For data collection qualitative research was chosen. Respondents were asked 6 issues in total (topics for discussion), on the base of which the data collection was carried out by social workers, especially from field programmes. The data were collected from 16 respondents in total in the South Bohemian Region. From the respondents’ answers 17 dilemma situations which the addressed workers meet were compiled and named. The dilemmas are presented in this article, they are briefly commented on and direct answers of the respondents are added for better illustration. From the conclusion it is obvious that some of the dilemmas are specific for social work with Roma target group, some are then applicable to other target groups.
