In this thesis, for the first demonstrated application of metal nanoparticles we have designed, I will introduce the phenomena of analytes induced shift of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs), in which the color changes of Au NP solutions can be used for colorimetric sensing. We have further developed indium nanoparticles (In NPs) based nanostructures on different substrates through thermo evaporation of indium in vacuum for plasmon enhanced solar evaporation, plasmonic photocatalysis, and UV SERS.
