Development of Catalytic Asymmetric P(III)-C Bond Formations in Ferrocenyl, Heterobicyclic & Exocyclic Olefins While Asymmetric Hydrophosphination (AHP) has been a promising tool, current limitations have imposed a barrier to widespread adoption of the atom-economical method. This is largely due to the i) synthetic level of difficulty in preparation of specific catalysts required, and ii) the undiscovered utility of the library of unexplored phosphine products being generated. In addition, current AHP protocols are still unable to be widely tolerant to changes in electronics of more unique substrates as well as variations in the phosphide’s functional groups. Hence, the current work aims to discover and tackle current limitations imposed on the current AHP protocols and provide fundamental insights for redesigning innovative methods for achieving AHP on challenging substrates such as ferrocenyl phosphines (possessing both planar and central stereogenicity) non-electron deficient heterobicyclic alkenes and electrophilic exocyclic olefins respectively. Lastly, studies on ferrocenyl phosphines, synthesized via hydrophosphination, will be presented, as promising anti-tumour and anti-malarial drug candidates. ABDUL SADEER BIN ABD SALAM
