The article deals with various aspects of gender problematics and approach in physical education of schoolchildren engaged and not engaged in sports activity. The expected scientific novelty and practical significance in the study of age and gender differences in the formation of the values of physical education of schoolchildren are determined. The analysis of similar works of foreign scientists is presented and the results of scientific researches aimed at formation of values of physical culture of schoolchildren are generalized. Objective.  To study the age and gender peculiarities of formation of values of individual physical culture of schoolchildren aged 12-17 years. Methods. Analysis of scientific and methodological literature, testing, methodical mathematical statistics. Results. The study involved schoolchildren of grades 6-11, of which 126 respondents were engaged in a particular sports event. Standardized testing according to the method of S. Bem “Masculinity-femininity” and the modified method of studying the value orientations of M. Rokicha have been used. It has been proved that the structure of terminal and instrumental value orientations of students has a different level of differentiation. It has been noted that the ability to differentiate the values is better formed in schoolchildren who are engaged in sports activity. The interrelation of the psychological gender with the hierarchy of the terminal and instrumental values of the respondents has been examined. Differences in the choice of priority values between boys and girls of one sex-role psychological type have been identified
