This work was carried out in the Fuels and Lubricants Laboratory of the National Institute of Technology, Standardization and Metrology - INTN, in the framework of project 14-INV-193, financial supported by CONACYT and INTN. The objectives of this project was to monitor the levels of benzene, aromatic hydrocarbons and oxygenated compounds (ethers and alcohols) in samples of gasoline imported into the country, using techniques standardized by the ASTM and established as reference methods by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The study period covers from February 2016 to July 2017. The results obtained, on average, were within the limits established in the current legislation, although occasional cases were observed in which they exceeded the permitted limits. These data are important to have a diagnosis of the situation in terms of levels of harmful compounds for the environment or human health, as well as for the decision making of regulatory bodies
