Recently, the necessity of a DC resistivity survey for deeper parts has increased for the purpose of locating mineral resources and investigating earthquakes and volcanic activities. Accordingly, we developed and verified a distributed acquisition system to implement efficient deep DC resistivity surveys. The main features of our system adopting state of the art of electric and electronic technologies are described as follows: 1) high-power transmission and high-precision measurement is possible; 2) broad functional implementation by firmware programming guarantees the scalability and applicability for various geophysical high-precision measurements; and 3) it has high efficiency and maintainability in field operations due to its small size, light weight, modular design, and low power consumption. The system was verified through comparison with a commercial system under the same conditions along the 480-m survey line. After the verification, a large-scale survey was successfully carried out along the 4-km survey line at Mt. Taebaek.
