The results of the time series of larvae surveys in the main\udspawning area of the western Baltic Sea spring spawning\udherring were evaluated. The quality of the recruitment index\udN 30 was studied. The raw data of 1977 to 1987 have got\udlost. In 1988 and 1989 the data for the estimation of the\udrecruitment index are biased. Only since 1990 the basic data\udcan be considered reliable
