Combination of radiotherapy and hyperthermia is not satisfactory for deep-seated malignant tumors. So we have conducted intraoperative radiotherapy and intraoperative RF capacitive hyperthermia for 9 cases with unresectable pancreatic cancer. In earlier treated cases, the temperature of the tumor was insufficiently elevated but after improvement of the applicator it could reach 42.5°C in a few minutes. After successful intraoperative heating CT showed tumor regression and central necrosis of the tumor. In the three cases skin burn was noticed, which was circumvented thereafter.
