大分県のサツマイモから分離されたSPFMVに類似する性質を示すウイルスはアサガオでの症状がわが国で既報のSPFMV-S, -O, -Tが示す症状と明らかに異なっていた本分離株はRT-PCR-RFLPによりSPFMV-S, -O, -Tとは異なるバンドパターンを示したまた本分離株の外被タンパク質CPを含む3ˈ末端部分をRT-PCRで増幅してその塩基配列を決定した結果そのCPは313アミノ酸より構成されておりSPFMV-CSPFMV-CH2SPFMV6およびSPFMV-SORと90以上の相同性を示したことからSPFMVであることが確認されたさらにこれを元にした分子系統樹により本分離株はC系統グループに属することが判明したわが国においてC系統に属するSPFMVの同定はこれが初めてであり本分離株を今後SPFMV-Bungoと命名したい
