オオムギ,コムギおよびエンバクに寄生する4種のUstilago属菌を供試し, 7種類の酵素,エステラーゼ,ペルオキシダーゼ,ロイシンアミノペプチダーゼ,酸性ホスファターゼ,リンゴ酸脱水素酵素,グルタミン酸脱水素酵素およびグルコース-6-リン酸脱水素酵素の電気泳動パターンを比較した。その結果, U. nuda, U. tritici, U. hordei, U. avenaeの分離菌株はそれぞれ種内でほぼ同一の電気泳動パターンを示した。また, U. avenaeとU. hordei間ではエステラーゼ,ロイシンアミノペプチダーゼおよびリンゴ酸脱水素酵素の電気泳動パターンに差はなく,その類似度は約70%であった。U. nudaとU. triticiの間では電気泳動パターンに差が認められ,その類似度は約10%であった。以上のことからU. nudaとU. triticiは分類上区別するのが妥当であると考える。
