Concentrations of heavy metals namely Pb, Zn, Fe, Cu, Cd and Cr detected in tissue of two fish species (Pristipoma furcatus and Acanthurus strigosus) collected from Pulicate Lake, Chennai mixed with effluent from industries in and around north Chennai. The report shows significant results between the organs of P. furcatus and A. strigosus but also significant changes observed in all the metals determined in this study. The concentration of heavy metals in the fish tissue was medium to low. The organs of fish species measured high level of Lead and Iron. Trace metal levels in edible component tissue of fish were within the limit and good for consumption.
