Der Rhythmus eines Stuckes ist das Ergebnis des Zusammenspiels aller vorhandenen Einzelrhythmen. Letztere konnen jedoch fur die Horer*innen nicht alle von gleicher Relevanz sein. In einer wahrnehmungsorientierten Rhythmusanalyse stellt sich somit die Frage nach der Selektion der Einzelrhythmen. Dieser Frage nahere ich mich uber gestalttheoretische Annahmen und Theorien kognitiver Wahrnehmungsprozesse. Die so ermittelten Einzelrhythmen werden in einem weiteren Schritt auf ihr Dissonanzverhaltnis zueinander und zum jeweiligen Metrum untersucht. Der vorliegende Aufsatz demonstriert dieses Analyseverfahren am Song Around the World aus dem Album Californication (1999) der kalifornischen Funkrock-Band Red Hot Chili Peppers.  The rhythm of a musical piece is the result of the interaction between all individual rhythms. However, the latter cannot all be of equal relevance for the listener. Therefore, in a perception-oriented analysis of rhythm, the question of selection among the individual rhythms arises. This article approaches this question by means of gestalt psychology and theories of cognitive perceptual processes. The individual rhythms identified are analyzed according to the type of dissonance they form with other rhythms and the current meter. This analytical method is exemplified by an analysis of the song Around the World from the album Californication (1999) by the Californian funk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers.
