In order to think about the development of Christian doctrine in the Patristic era in relation with the heterodox views, it is worth to consider how the two main representatives of the Alexandrine School looked at them. The aim of this work is to analyze the different meanings of the terms a†resij and aƒretikÒj in Clement’s Stromata and Origen’s Contra Celsum with the intention of outlining how in the beginning of the history of Christian Church the main thinkers were establishing the ground so as to dialogue with their contemporary culture.
