The aspects of financial and economic security are considered and the analysis of currently known cryptocurrencies and a wide range of interpretations of the concept of "cryptocurrency" by official bodies of different countries are carried out; forecasting the development of cryptocurrencies for accounting for formalizing factors that affect the value of cryptocurrencies. The evolution of cryptocurrency has been analyzed and its further development projected as a powerful financial instrument in the world market.
