It is a great pleasure to introduce the special section "Large-Scale Spatio-Temporal Data Analysis for Real-World Sensing" in the Transactions on Media Technology and Applications (MTA). Since the inauguration of the MTA, the editorial committees have been offering a special section in each issue. This is the 11th topic in series of these special sections focusing on the advances in media technologies for analyzing the large-scale spatio-temporal data for realworld sensing via visual, multimedia, and social sensors.
