We measured ion-induced secondary electron yield, XRD, and EPMA analysis for oxide compounds including Mg to evaluate the suitability of oxide compounds as protective materials for ac PDPs. The vacuum evaporated thin films of oxide compounds do not retain their original composition on the substrate.
