For reduction of dioxins in MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) incinerators, complete combustion by thorough mixing of combustion gas with oxygen supplied as primary and secondary air is important. So far we have realized a very low dioxins level with our unique mixing concept. However, as it is getting required to reduce dioxins concentration to further lower level, another effort had to be made to give a furnace configuration and air supply enabling better gas mixing. In evaluating the gas flow in a furnace, CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics) and/or flow visualization in a miniature are generally used. However, both approaches have such problems that the former could not give a precise turbulent pattern and the latter gives only qualitative solutions. Applying PTV (Particle Tracking Velocimetry) method to flow visualization, we found mean turbulence intensity in the mixing zone useful as a quantitative mixing indicator. By employing the indicator we have determined a furnace configuration including air injection which enables much enhanced gas mixing. Keyword: Flow Visualization, PTV, Turbulence Intensity, MSW(Municipal Solid Waste) Incinerator, Complete Combustion, Secondary Air, Furnace Configuration 1.は じめ に 都 市 ごみ焼 却 炉 か ら排 出 され る ダ イオ キ シ ン類 は,そ の毒 性 の強 さ と国 内 の汚 染状 況1)か ら,徹 底 した低 減 が 求 め られて い る.ダ イ オ キ シ ン類 の低 減 には完 全 燃 焼, つ ま り"3T"(温 度,滞 留 時 間お よび混 合撹 拌)が 重 要 とされ て お り,当 社 で は独 自の混 合撹 拌 思 想 に よ り燃 焼 ガ スの完全 燃 焼 を実現 して きた2,3).し か し,ダ イ オキ シ ン類 を可 能 な限 りゼ ロ に近 づ け る とい う観 点 か ら,当 社 で は炉 形状 と二次 エ アの 吹 き込 み 方 法 を変 更 して更 な る 完 全燃 焼 を 目指す こ とに した. 炉 形状 ・二 次 エ ア の決定 には燃 焼 ガ ス の流 動 解 析 が不 可 欠 で あ り,こ れ まで は コ ン ピュー タシ ミュ レー シ ョ ン (CFD)お よび流 れ の 可 視化 に よる流 れ 場 の検 討 が な され て きた.し か し,CFDは 焼 却 炉 の流動 解析 手段 と して は まだ さ まざ まな研 究 が 行 わ れ てい る段 階 で,実 機 との対 応 には 問題 点 が残 され て お り,可 視化 に よる 流 れ の観 察 のみ で は流 れ は定性 的 に しか把 握 で き なか った.そ こで, 本 研 究 で は,可 視 化 画 像 を粒 子画 像 流 速 測 定 法(PTV)で 解 析 す る こ と に よ り,混 合撹 拌 の指標 の定 量 的 な把 握 を 試 み た,さ ら に,こ の指標 を用 い て,更 な る完全 燃 焼 を 実 現 す る炉 形状 お よ び二次 エ アの 吹 き込 み方 法 を決 定 し たので,以 下 に報 告 す る. 2.実 験 方 法 本 研 究 で は,Fig.1に 示 す 混合撹 拌 対 策 を施 し て,完 全 燃 焼 を実 現 して い る全 連 続 式 ス トー カ炉 (230t/d×2炉)を 基準 炉 と した.基 準 炉 内 の ガ ス流 れ を可 視化 して 混合 撹拌 の指 標 を把 握 した後 に,こ の指標 が基 準 炉 よ り大 き くな る炉 形 状 と二 次 エ ア の吹 き込 み 方 法 を 把 握 した. 可 視化 模 型 は実炉 の1/10の 大 き さと し,ア ク リル板 と 発 砲 ス チ ロー ル に よ り二 次 元水 路 を形 成 した.模 型 の ス トー カお よび二 次 エ ア に相 当 す る部 分 か ら水 を流 し,水 中 に流 したポ リス チ レ ン粒 子(φ2×3mm)の 動 きか ら 流 れ場 を観 察 した. ハ イ ビ ジ ョンカ メラで撮 影 した1/60秒 間隔 の画 像 をデ
