アンケート調査から,1998年 の4月 と5月 に対馬島外 から真珠母貝を移入した件数は,1996年 に比べて4分 の 1 程度に減少した。閉 殻筋の赤変を伴 う真珠母貝の斃死 件数を比べると1998年 は1997年 の5分 の1程 度に減少 した。ま た,斃死 率を比較しても1998年 の斃死率は1997 年に比べて半分程度に減少した。 真珠母貝の定期調査から,1997年 には浅茅湾奥部の漁 場で閉殻筋の赤変化 を伴う大量死が発生したが1998年 に は7月 に島外から真珠母貝を移入 した漁場以外では発生 しなかった。逆 に,浅 茅湾口部の漁場では,1997年 には 閉殻筋の赤変化を伴 う大量死は発生 しなかったが,1998 年には発生した。 対馬全島の調査から,全 調査漁場の半分の漁場で閉殻 筋の赤変化が認められた。特 に,春 の真珠母貝の対馬島 外からの移入禁止を申し合わせていない漁協の外海に近 い漁場で閉殻筋の赤変化が認められた。
