Attempts were made to predict the velocity field and shear rate distribution of a Newtonian type fluid in the KE element of the Buss Ko-Kneader by means of CFD method. The role of both rotating and reciprocating motion have been considered in three dimensional flow field. The computed results showed appreciable changes in the velocity counters during a period of reciprocating motion, and these changes were greater for the transverse flow compared to the down channel flow.
