The present work aims at addressing the problems encountered during the preparation of ZnAlCu alloys for metallographic examinations and presents appropriate solutions. A targeted metallographic preparation of these usually soft and deformation sensitive alloys will be discussed in detail in the following, while the preparation of samples for electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and the relevant preparation route used are specifically addressed.
