In the present work, the liquidus projection of the Fe – Co – C ternary system is plotted in the iron-rich corner using differential thermal analysis, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. This projection contains three primary crystallisation phases (δ(Fe), γ(Fe) and graphite) as well as two univariant lines: peritectic L + δ(Fe) γ(Fe) and eutectic L γ(Fe) + C graphite .
