無隔膜電極を用いて,0.1%(w/v)塩化ナトリウムを含有するpH9∼13の水酸化ナトリウム溶液を電気分解した.pH9∼12.4では,有効塩素は0.2g/Lとほぼ一定量生成したが,pH12.5以上では有効塩素量が著しく低下し,pH13では全く生成しなかった.オボアルブミンが付着したステンレス鋼粒子を対象とした洗浄実験では,塩素化アルカリ性電解溶液(pH12.3)の洗浄効率は,有効塩素濃度に依存して増加した.有効塩素0.09∼0.2g/Lを含有する塩素化アルカリ性電解溶液(pH12.3)による洗浄(40°C)は,80°Cでの水酸化ナトリウム溶液(pH12.3)による洗浄及びpH13.5の水酸化ナトリウム溶液(40°C)による洗浄よりも効果が高かった.塩素化アルカリ性電解溶液(pH12.3)の洗浄力は,アルカリ(OH-)と有効塩素(OCl-)に起因することが確認された.
