抗菌作用の他,解熱,鎮咳作用を有するクワ(Morus alba)葉茶の,70%エタノール抽出物について,ヒト前骨髄性白血病HL-60細胞に対する影響を調べた.抽出物の添加により,濃度依存的にHL-60細胞の増殖が抑制された.また,アポトーシスの重要な指標となる,カスパーゼ-3の活性化が観察された.さらに,DNAラダー形成,アポトーシス小体の形成が観察されたことから,70%エタノール抽出物がアポトーシスを誘導していると推察された.以上の結果より,この画分が,がん予防に有用な物質を含むことが期待される.
