地球 環境 の汚 染が,近 年大 きな社会 問題 とな って い る. 環境汚染には,海 洋汚染,大 気汚染,土 壌汚染等に分 け られ るが,中 でも農薬に よる土壌 汚染 は,食 品汚染に つなが り直接摂取す ることに よ り健康 に影響す るもの と して,大 きくク ローズア ップされ ているものの1つ であ る.以 前か ら農薬の大量投与に よる土壌汚染,土 地の疲 弊 が指摘 されて きた. その対策 として,低 濃度 の農薬 あるいは無農薬栽培, 有機肥料等 の利用が行 われ,又 遺伝子組み換え技術 を利 用 した病気に強い作物 の開発等が行われている.農 薬 を 使用す るのは,種 子の段階 と成育過程 とがある と思われ るが,種 子の処理方法 として新 しい方法が ドイ ツのフラ ウ ンフォーフ ァー研究所 の電子 プラズマ研究所(以 下 FEPと 称す る)で 開発 され,実 用段階 に達 した ので紹 介す る1).
