Evaluation of ultimate characteristics of seismic isolators especially for rubber bearings was carried out, because probability risk assessment (PRA) is required in designing of nuclear power plant for beyond design input ground motion level. In this study, prediction technique for ultimate characteristics of lead rubber bearings based on finite element analysis (FEA) is proposed. We especially focused on tensile break characteristics. Firstly, we proposed analysis model in order to predict break characteristics of lead rubber bearings (LRB). And then we examined validity of proposed analysis model by comparing test result of various stress strain relationship. After that, break prediction method is explained by showing definition of break criteria and analytically obtained results of break characteristics of LRB. Based on the prediction method, various parameter dependences such as stiffness of LRB, structure of rubber bearing, and so on, were examined. In addition to the proposed criteria, we examined probability of other break criteria.
