We estimate the broadband source model and strong motions of the 1855 Ansei-edo earthquake using the empirical Green’s function method. The high-angle reverse fault with the short period spectral level of 6.8 1019 [Nm/s2] in northwest of Chiba prefecture at a depth of 60 km in the Philippine Sea plate simulate best the seismic intensity in the Tokyo metropolitan and regional area. In the center of Tokyo the peak horizontal ground velocities are comparable to those for the 1923 MW7.9 Kanto earthquake, but the velocity pulses with periods of 1 to 2 s are much predominant. .
