Objective: To determine if two psychophysical quantitative sensory tests, temporal summation and conditioned pain modulation are associated with treatment outcomes in patients with orofacial pain. Methods: During the initial examination of 40 patients with orofacial pain, data were collected on physical function and pain; and measurements of Temporal Summation (TS) and Conditioned Pain Modulation (CPM). At 6 – 8-weeks follow-up, these pain and function measures were repeated and subjects were asked to rate their perceived level of change. Results: Insufficient evidence of association between temporal summation and functional outcomes were seen in patients with orofacial pain.
