Liver acts as a primary organ for detoxification of endogenous as well as exogenous compounds and it is a multitasking organ working round the clock for maintaining the homeostasis of body (Yadav et al., 2008). Because of the alarmingly increasing number of patients of chronic liver disease worldwide, the study of liver ailments and development of drugs for various liver diseases has become one of the priority areas of research (Corless et al., 1983).
