The paper aims to reveal sub-regional peculiarities of Omsk clerical community formation under conditions of modernization (the end of the XIX the beginning of the XX century). Special attention is paid to analysing influence of modernization factors (Russia’s colonial policy in remote regions, peasant resettlement to the Trans-Ural region) on clerical life in newly established Omsk eparchy. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying features of Omsk clerical community acquired as a result of modernization processes. Relying on the conducted analysis, the author identifies and describes typical features of Omsk clergy: poor material situation, low educational level, readiness of some clergymen for changes in the parochial administration system under the new socio-economic and political situation.
