many teachers associate the decrease in schoolchildren’s interest in reading, its quality and the level of reading culture with the widespread use of the Internet, which changes the structure of youth leisure and has an impact on the development of the emotional and intellectual sphere of the person; the article presents the results of a survey of Yugra schoolchildren to identify attitudes to the Internet and reader’s preferences of schoolchildren among the indigenous people of the North. Objective: to identify the reader’s interests of schoolchildren among the indigenous people. In the process of processing of the results, we solved several tasks, including changes in the leisure practice of schoolchildren, peculiarities of using of the Internet and the role of literature lessons in the forming of the reading culture of schoolchildren in different age groups. Research materials: the results of a survey of schoolchildren of 5–11 grades; the survey was conducted in March-April 2017.
