There are no in the literature comparative studies of the practice of inserts in calendars of the Urals and Siberia peoples. Objective: study and comparison of the practice of inserts in calendars of the peoples of the Urals and Siberia by analyzing of calendar vocabulary. Research materials: calendars of peoples of the Urals and Siberia of 18–20th centuries. Results and novelty of the research: in the research we have analyzed the practice of intercalates (inserts) in calendars of the peoples of the Urals and Siberia; investigated the semantics of additional time (insert) in calendars of the Ob Ugric peoples (Khanty, Mansi), Samoyeds (Nenets, Selkups), Altaians, Buryats, Yakuts, Evenks, Evens, Negidals, Udeges, etc. For the first time we made an analysis of the calendar vocabulary and semantics of terms denoting the intercalary months among some Tungus-language peoples, Nenets, Yakuts and
