The academic background of this paper is under Keynesian economics and monetarism economics. The purpose is to show British government’s monetary policies during Margaret Thatcher’s period. There are also short introduction of monetarism and assessment of Thatcher’s policies in this paper. Thatcher’s reform indeed brought benefit to Britain a lot, however, it caused a series of problems such as unemployment and division between rich and poor. Her courage and perseverance might be helpful to our politicians’ reform today. But her policies should be thought twice before applying.
