Firstly, the background of earthquake disasters occurred recently and the necessity of furniture design with earthquake emergency self-rescue function were analyzed. Then the research situation on furniture design with e arthquake emergency self-rescue function were summarized, and the rethinking on functional de sign of furniture, especially design on form a nd structure, were conducted based on analysis of theoretical basis of furniture design with earthquake emergency self-rescue function. F inally, bedside tables were designed as demonstration, which provides a new approach to furniture design with earthquake emergency self-rescue function.
