Meyerhold was always fascinated by the concepts of art changing and creating life. He was deeply concerned by the Russians’ headfast unwillingness to obey the slow course of evolution. The director’s experiments in establishing the performance as a mass meeting and his concept of monumental revolutionary propaganda, as they had been manifested in The RSFSR-1 Theatre, proved to be successful and convincing. Nevertheless, the Moscow Soviet closed the theater. As Meyerhold trusted the party leaders he considered closing his theater a proof of the fact that the Soviet country was in no need of professional stage art. Thereby the constructivist idea of art which aims to design life in accordance with artistic laws shows the way out of the impasse. If the theater artist must be effectively involved in the process of creating a new harmonious human being, Meyerhold will develop the methods of actors’ training to bring him up.
